Hero is a tool system that enables both experienced and inexperienced users to deal with life-threatening situations through blood loss during accidents where fast reaction time is crucial. Hero makes it possible to react fast and efficiently thanks to the intuitive component configuration, which can be operated with one hand.

During this project, we worked closely with the Police department in Umeå, Sweden. This allowed us to learn from the target users and identify potential design opportunities. I focused on reaction tools they use as part of their daily routines.

Police officers usually arrive first and assist when an accident happens. They need to stabilize the situation and perform different activities, including helping people injured first.

Police equipment lacks optimal design for expert use and consistency, with officers often relying on personal knives and outdated tourniquets. This poses significant risks, as regular tourniquets can lead to longer reaction and stabilization times if training is not done consistently, crucial factors in treating bleeding injuries.

The ideation revolved around the premise of designing a tool or set of tools that police officers can use and equip as their daily equipment. Multiple concepts were explored to evaluate the best solution possible.

Once I had defined what the best solution was, I proceeded to define the final package and iterated functions and proportions and defined the visual strategy.
