Challenge
We faced several challenges, including the electronic components in the existing PCB. Additionally, the team was constrained by the estimated retail cost, requiring us to design a product that was both reliable and sturdy. Another key challenge was ensuring the main sensors on the top surface received enough light for proper function. We achieved this through multiple design iterations, refining the shapes surrounding the Fresnel lens—an element that ultimately became an iconic feature of the product and future developments within the company.
The Outcome
Cuby offered great versatility, as its concave surface allowed for maximum light concentration at the center with minimal errors. Additionally, its construction and design reduced the number of parts and assemblies, making it both cost-effective and reliable. This efficiency enabled us to stay within the initial estimated budget.
